Leslie County Surpasses Buckhorn in All “A” Classic

The Lady Eagles picked up a victory in their season opener.

The Leslie County Lady Eagles advanced to the 14th Region All “A” Classic semifinals by defeating the Buckhorn Lady Wildcats 68-22 on Wednesday night. In the semifinals, the Lady Eagles will face the Knott County Central Lady Patriots.

Against the Lady Wildcats, Leslie County tallied 18 assists, 11 offensive rebounds, and 19 steals. Coach Larry Sparks’ team also recorded six 3-pointers, and went 28-of-58 from the field.

The Lady Eagles’ Courtney Hoskins led all scorers with 16 points to go along with eight assists and eight steals.

Buckhorn had six players score. Of those six, the leading scorer was Brooklyn Riley. The junior forward tallied nine points and nine rebounds to go along with one steal.

The Lady Wildcats recorded five offensive rebounds, three blocks, and made 13 free throws.
