The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Race number 24 visited Bristol Motor Speedway for the 58th annual-Bass Pro Shop NRA Night Race Sat. Aug 18, 2018.

40 year old Cup Champion Kurt Bush erased a 52 race drought by conquering 500 laps on the Half Mile Oval at the Last Great Colosseum.

Kurt Bush, Driver of the #41 Monster Energy/Haas Automation Ford charged for lead on Lap 478 Restart, passing Stewart-Haus Teamate #14 Clint Bowyer, pilot of the Rush Truck Center/Cummings Ford and never looked back. 

The field was lead to green flag by Pole Winner #42 Kyle Larson, Driver of the DC Solar Chevrolet at a speed of 127.792 .  Stage 1 winner Ryan Blaney – #12 REV Ford and Stage 2 Winner Joey Logano-#22 Shell/ Pennzoil Ford.

The Race collected 9 Caution Flags for total of 70 laps.  Additionally, 19 Lead Changes among 9 Drivers during the 2hr 58 minute Race at an Average Speed of 89.538.

 Kurt’s younger brother Kyle Bush – #18 M&M Toyota displayed his talent as a Wheel Man buy erasing a 2 Lap deficit putting his #18 MM Toyota in contention to win.  Late Race confrontation, eliminated young Bush brothers’ chance of victor.

This win racks up 30 total Career Wins and 6th Trophies at Thunder Valley for Kurt Bush.

Early this week, Veteran Kasey Kahne (38) and Elliot Sadler (43) have formally announced retirement from their respectful NASCAR series.

The Monster Cup Energy NASCAR Cup Series takes a week off and resumes Sunday, Sept. 02, 2018 at Darlington Speedway for the annual Bojangles / Southern 500.
