6th Grader at East Perry Elementary excelling on National Scene
HAZARD – August 4, 2020 – Brendon D. Miller
Ryleigh Griffith is definitely something special on the diamond. I know from experience. I was witness to her abilities as she was a teammate of my youngest on the Breathitt County Outlaws 9u team that won many, many games and consecutive tournaments when she was a main cog in the team at 8. Smooth and efficient in the field and probably the toughest player on the field as she definitely stood out among the boys.
Ryleigh is the 12 year old daughter of Ryan and Heather Griffith of Whick. Ryleigh sticks to the softball diamond now, but nothing has changed in her performance as she is sparkling on the statewide and national scene. This past weekend she competed at the invitational Youth Softball Nationals in Elizabethtown. The team she was place on took 2nd place, and Ryleigh received the Ace award at the top pitcher in the tourney.
Due to her performance, she is a direct selection as a pitcher and second baselady for the National Elite Team that will play in the PFG Surf City Nationals in Huntington Beach, California September 25-27, and the Las Vegas PFG Winter Classic November 27-29.
Many honors and accolades to come for this young lady. Our Mountain young people are doing great things!!! We at BSN wish Ryleigh the best the rest of the summer and fall and in all endeavors and we look forward to covering her throughout her career!
