Lady Wolves punch their ticket to the All A Classic State Tournament.

Wolfe County is headed back to Owensboro for the All A Classic State Tourney, with an 8-2 win over Knott Central on Friday night. Knott Central scored their only two runs of the contest in the top of the 1st, then Carly Creech blanked the Lady Patriots from the circle for the final six.
Wolfe got on the board in the bottom of the 1st as leadoff Hailey Smith singled to open the game. Smith then stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball. Sarah Smith then brought Hailey home with a sacrifice fly. Kallie Brown then tripled to left and scored on an error by the Knott pitcher to tie the game at 2’s at the end of the 1st.
The Lady Wolves added four in the bottom of the second and then two in the bottom of the sixth to set the final margin and take the title.
The Lady Wolves’ top three did loads of damage as Hailey Smith was 3 for 4 and scored 3 runs. Sarah Smith was 1 for 2, scored twice and had 3 RBI’s. Kallie Brown was 2 for 4, scored a run and had an RBI.
Carly Creech went the distance giving up 2 unearned runs for the win.
Wolfe now advances to the All A Classic State Tournament in Owensboro on April 27th and 28th. Pool play will take place on Saturday the 27th, with Wolfe facing the winner of the 15th Region at 10:30 AM; the 5th Region at 2:00 PM; and the 11th Region at 5:30. 1st and 2nd in each Bracket advances to the Tournament play on Sunday.
