Ryan Blaney ends 59-race winless streak at Charlotte!

CHARLOTTE – May 29, 2023

The NASCAR Cup Series 15th point’s race of the season checked into Charlotte Motor Speedway facilities for NASCAR’s most endurance race of the season the “Coca-Cola 600 “.   The Memorial Weekend events saluted our Country’s Military sacrifices emphasized within NASCAR’s longest scheduled race on schedule.

Mother Nature interrupted Sunday’s racing venue prompting NASCAR Officials to postpone scheduled race until the next Monday, May 29th.

William Byron was awarded pole position and valuable pit stall No. 1 after Saturday’s qualifying session rained out.

Recap/Results

NASCAR Cup Champion Jimmy Johnson spin with 25 laps remaining sets up a duel to the checkers.  William Byron and Ryan Blaney would contest for the lead coming down the stretch.  Christopher Bell joins the picture bump drafting William Byron to the front onward to a Stage 1 photo finish.

Recap/Results

With pockets of rain circulating the track, NASCAR Official suspended racing activities until track attended to. A rain delay of 30 minutes only seemed to intensify some driver s intensity level as displayed with Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliotts battle for real-estate. Both cars would be damaged and lights out for any profitable finish.

Finial segment spotlighted Chris Buescher and Ryan Blaney clashing door to door as final laps in Stage were few. Buescher committed to the inside lane captures the lead from Blaney in Turn 4.  

Turn 4 would not be as favorable to BJ McLeod as his spin out closes Stage 2 under caution.

Recap/Results

Retiring NASCAR Cup Champ Kevin Harvick wins the race out of pits after Stage 3 pit service.  Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Bush opt out of pit attention, trading off for track position, on old tires. 

Kevin Harvick sharp shoots ahead of Stenhouse Jr to the lead.  Happy’s lead will be short lived as Ryan Blaney erases Harvick’s deficit by choosing the top lane and resuming the lead on lap 229.

William Byron’s pit crew excelled his chances all day to contend with the leaders preforming blistering pit stops.  Byron will rule the post, passing Blaney on Lap 276.

Ryan Blaney will collect himself and sharp shoot inside Byron on the action filled Turn Number 4.  Blaney regains the top spot as contenders follow.

Recap/Results

A collision of contenders Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Ty Gibbs and Chris Bell welcomed a final caution flag to set up a sprint to the checkers with 20 scheduled circuits still existing.

Ryan Blaney assumed control and keep competition within clear distance in his rear view mirror.

Ryan Blaney wins the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway

The Victory is Ryan Blaney’s first (Points) race since his August 2021 win at Daytona.

Coincidental, Team Owner Roger Penske hit the Memorial Day Exacta as Team Penske Indy Driver Josef Newgarden won the Indianapolis 500 for “The Captain” on Sunday.
