Creech Announces Retirement at Wolfe County

Robert Scott Creech concludes over Two Decades as Head Coach of the Wolves

CAMPTON – May 17, 2026 – Brendon D. Miller

Robert Scott Creech has announced his retirement and will be stepping down as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Wolfe County High School, concluding 30 seasons on the bench for the Wolves. Robert Scott was an Assistant for his father, Bob Creech, from 1996 through 2001, and then took the reins of the program after Bob’s retirement in 2001.

“It’s Time,” said Creech as he and I spoke on Saturday.

“I would like to first and foremost thank my family, my former players and their parents and/or guardians, all school staff, janitors, bus drivers, school board members,  friends, and associates who helped contribute to my time as head coach.”

“Like any Coach, I would have liked to have had a few more wins during my tenure, but I am especially PROUD of the successes of my players, both on an off the court.  Former players are spread all across the the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and our nation, who have become quality hard working men.  As they all know, hard work was the staple of our program and it is a joy to see that play out in their lives.”

“I would like to extend appreciation to all the fellow coaches and schools that we have competed against over the years.  Life-long friendships have been formed.  The fellowship of the coaching fraternity is a major factor for making kids at our school and others successful in their athletic endeavors.”

Robert Scott will continue in his role as Athletic Director at Wolfe County.

I can say, Robert Scott has been a true friend to many, especially myself and Bluegrass Sports Nation. The rise and current stats of BSN in high school sports has been greatly enhanced by our the contributions of Robert Scott and the Wolfe program and the Wolfe County Athletic Department across the board. I am very appreciative, and can say that R.S. is a fierce defender and advocate for Wolfe County High School, the young people of Wolfe County, and the community as a whole!

In conclusion, Robert Scott said “It has been a blessed journey to have had the privilege of being the coach and representing a community, region, and state that I sincerely love!! GO BLUE!”
