The NASCAR Cup Series 9th point’s race of the season “Throw Backed” to Darlington County for the annual Goodyear 400 race hosted by the Darlington Raceway.
Darlington Raceway is classified as a 1.33-mile oval track with the Ends of very different shape and structure. A local landowner refused to relocate a minnow pond is result to the track’s distinctive egg-shaped design. Race Teams have a challenge to set up their cars’ handling in a way that will be operative at both diverse ends for 293 scheduled laps.
William Byron’s lap of 28.774 seconds secures pole for the annual throwback weekend finale.
Goodyear 400 – Stage 1 Recap:
William Byron displays a dominant driving lesson leading the field from green flag to checkers in the open Stage. Byron’s lead will be contested as challengers will be erased as final laps unfold.

Final green flag pit-lane attendance will be crucial and a major contributor to the final dash chaos for checkers.
Tyler Reddick shakes up the field opting to pit a bit earlier than expected. Tyler Reddick’s green flag pit-service sequence allows him to rotate forward as frontrunners relinquish their lead when attending pit service.
Advancing in his mirror, Ryan Blaney’s progression erases Reddick’s marginal lead. Blaney will overtake Reddick less than 5 laps remaining of scheduled completion.
Unfortunately, Ryan Blaney’s stint at the front will be interrupted with an uncontrollable Kyle Larson bouncing off an interior barrier wall, inviting a final caution to decide an Overtime Victor.
