Jackson City Defeats Riverside Christian 58-51

RIVERSIDE – January 13, 2020

The Lady Tigers of Jackson traveled to Lost Creek to take on the Lady Rams of Riverside in a 55th District match up. The was the 2nd meeting of the year between the teams with Riverside earning their first District win in 10 years in their 62-60 win over the Lady Tigers on December 19th.

The Lady Rams began the game strong balanced scoring in the 1st quarter getting four each from Malin Voth, Chelsea Stivers and Jordan Neace to lead 14-10 at the first break.

Jackson went long range in the 2nd quarter getting two 3’s from Faith Moore and one from Riley Turner to outscore the Lady Rams 19-14 in the quarter and lead at the half 29-28.

Riverside turned up the defensive pressure after the half and held the Lady Tigers to 7 points in the 3rd quarter. Malin Voth had four baskets and 8 points in the quarter as the Lady Rams headed to the 4th with a 40-36 lead.

Jackson took the lead and then pulled away for the win in the 4th behind 12 from dynamic Sophomore Breanna Tincher. Voth had 7 to keep the Lady Rams close.

The win was Jackson’s 1st in the District of the season and makes their record 1-3 with games remaining at Breathitt (Wednesday) and at Wolfe. Riverside falls to 6-4 and 1-2 in District with games remaining home and home with Breathitt and host Wolfe on Wednesday.
