The Knott Central Patriots played at Belfry on Wednesday night. Entering the game, each team was undefeated. Despite eight 3-pointers for Knott Central, the Pirates claimed a 67-60 victory.
In the First Quarter:
Belfry’s Ben McNamee led all scorers with eight points. Colby Napier, Josh McGuire, Kizer Slone, and Scott Shepherd all scored for the Patriots. Knott Central tallied two 3-pointers, but the Pirates led 20-14 after the opening quarter.
In the Second Quarter:
Five players scored for Belfry, while four players scored for the Patriots. Kizer Slone led all scorers with five points. At halftime, the Pirates led 32-27.
In the Third Quarter:
Knott Central made four 3’s, but senior guard Tyler Chaffin countered with three 3-pointers for Coach Mark Thompson’s team. Going into the final quarter, Belfry led 52-46.
In the Fourth Quarter:
Napier, Jayden Huff, and Drake Slone combined to score all 14 of the Patriots’ points. Sal Dean and Caleb Spears each scored five points for the Pirates. The final score was 67-60.
