A Darryl Morsell dunk off an assist by Kahlil Whitney won the game for La Familia.
LEXINGTON – July 18, 2026 – Bradley Charles
It was an action-packed day at Historic Memorial Coliseum for the TBT Tournament. Nostalgia was strong for BBN as fan-favorites like Andrew Harrison, WIllie Cauley-Stein, and DeAndre Liggins repped the Blue-and-White once again.
La Familia picked up a 72-68 win over The Ville in a climatic ending, which saw each team having potentially game-winning shots. Kentucky held a 63-59 lead going into the Elam Ending. La Familia now owns a 1-0 lead in the best of three series.
Darryl Morsell tallied a game-leading 17 points for La Familia. He was one of four La Familia players in double digits as Andrew Harrison tallied 14, Sean McNeil registered 12, and James Mainor-Bell accounted for 10.
Former CAT Kahlil Whitney tallied nine points off 4-of-6 shooting from the floor, while DeAndre Liggins recorded four points. That duo combined for the highlight of the night when Liggins connected on a behind-the-back assist to Whitney that resulted in a 3-pointer.
Chris Coffey tallied three points and a game-leading eight rebounds. Willie Cauley-Stein had three points, four rebounds, two steals, and one block in 16 minutes of playing time. Cauley-Stein left the game early with an injury. He was seated on the bench during that time. His status going forward is currently unknown.
Game 2 will be played on Monday, July 20, in Freedom Hall at 7:00 p.m.
