Owsley County rushed out to a 50-7 halftime lead over Breathitt County in a game at the Palace and had an early running clock as they finished the game with the JV and went on to a 64-30 victory.
Breathitt County has lost three starters to knee injuries this season. Those three players accounted for 27 of the Lady Cats 49 point game average. At one time they had a 12-2 record and seemed destined for a district title and a factor in the region but then the injuries began and their record after tonight’s game is 13-7.
Owsley had an opportunity to get everyone in the game and nine players scored. Two players led the way with 13 points respectively, Laya Lynch and Macey Brown. Carly Smith scored 11 points, Addie Terry 6, Kenzie Grubb 9, Kamilla Marcum 6, Delaney Smith 2, Harley Dooley 2 and Lauren Gay with 2.
Lexie Combs led Breathitt with 11 points. Brenley Gross scored 10, Jerrica Neace 3, Charli Stacey 3 and Tenley Hayes 3.
The Lady Owls’ seven treys increased their 3 point total for the season through 20 games to 149. They are averaging 7.4 per game.
The 14-6 Lady Owls next game is Thursday at Estill County in a double header with the Owls. They also play Jenkins in another double header with the boys Friday in the Bobby Bowling Classic at the Palace.
