The Knott Central Lady Patriots are headed to Owensboro for the All A Classic State Tournament as they captured the 14th Region All A Title in spectacular walk off fashion on Friday Night. Knott Junior Mercedes Winfree drove a 0-1 pitch to left-center with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to score Katie Conley and send the Lady Patriots to a Regional Championship celebration.
The Lady Patriots had to come back from an early deficit as Wolfe jumped out to a lead in the game scoring three runs in the first and two in the second to lead 5-0 at the end of two and a half innings. Knott scored six in the bottom of the third as the Lady Wolves were unable to handle multiple bunts by the Lady Patriots. Wolfe was able to tie the game at six leading to Winfree’s heroics in the seventh.
Kennedi Sandlin went the distance in the circle for Knott and picked up the win. Lauren Terrill suffered the loss for the Lady Wolves.
Knott Central will begin pool play next Saturday in Owensboro! Congratuations to Coach Sandlin and the Lady Patriots.
