Kyle Larson Captures Checkers at Richmond Raceway!

RICHMOND – April 2, 2023 – Anthony Holbrook

The NASCAR Cup Series located to Richmond, Virginia for the Toyota Owners 400 hosted by Richmond International Raceway for the 7th points scheduled race of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Season.

Due to incumbent weather, qualifying was rained out and the starting grid is now set in accord with the NASCAR Cup Series rule book. Alex Bowman/Kyle Busch occupied the front row.

Toyota Owners 400 – Stage 1 Recap:

William Byron set the pace in Stage 1 as rivals followed in his tracks.  Kyle Larson attempted to dial inside of the race leader, only to be warded off as William Byron shuts the door.

William Byron dominates Stage 1 and takes the checkers at Richmond Raceway.

Counting 3 Laps remaining, Denny Hamlin sling shot inside of Chris Bell for the lead. Christopher Bell relinquished his lead into the turn as Denny Hamlin advances to claim Stage 2 honors.

With teams executing a final pit stop, William Byron’s advantage would be downsized after a slow pit stop.  Feast or famine, Kyle Larson profits and wins the race out of pit row as drivers stack up for a decisive final shoot-out.

Race contender William Byron continued his downward spiral as Chris Bell tags Byron’s left bumper spinning William out of contention.

Kyle Larson guards his position as Josh Berry and the rest of the challengers shrink in his rear view mirror.
