Legends’ Bodner promoted to Wilmington

The Kansas City Royals have promoted right-handed pitcher Jacob Bodner from class A Lexington to advanced-A  Wilmington of the Carolina League.

Bodner, a native of Danville, Kentucky and a graduate of Boyle County High School,  had a 2-0 record and an earned run average of 3.60 in seven relief appearances for the Legends.  He recorded three saves.

Bodner was selected by the Royals in the 27th round of the June 2015 draft.  He pitched in college at Xavier University.   Bodner made his professional debut in 2015 with Burlington of the Appalachian League.  The Royals named him as Burlington’s Pitcher of the Year after he compiled a record of 2-0 with an ERA of 0.77 in 16 appearances.  He had five saves.

“It was great to have Jacob with us, and to have his friends and family nearby to add their support, but the object in minor league baseball is to move up,” said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea.  “Jacob has done a great job for the Legends, and we wish him and his family well as he continues to make progress in his baseball career.”
