Longhorns Win the Battle of the Lone Star State; No. 13 Texas 94, No. 5 Texas A&M 89

Nashville, TN – March 13, 2025 – Matthew Hudson

In what has become the norm this year in the SEC Tournament the Texas Longhorn and Texas A&M Aggies put on an absolute show that took two overtimes to decide.

The game was a tough one both physically and mentally, nine ties, 17 lead changes, and 52 fouls left both teams exhausted, and multiple players fouled out by the end of the game.

Texas led at the half by six points, but it never truly felt like either team had an advantage. Texas had 9 different players score in the first half as Coach Terry commended them for their improved team play.

The 2nd half looked like Wade Taylor might go out and win the game himself for the Aggies, Wade had 21 points in the 2nd Half and finished the game with 29 points. Texas was able to hold strong and with a little over 8 minutes left held a 9-point lead.

Overtime #1 was rather uneventful as both teams only scored 6 points. Texas came up with a big play to Shedrick with only 4 seconds left to force the 2nd Overtime.

The Texas Longhorns hold on and are finally able to take down the Aggies, outscoring them 15-10 in the 2nd Overtime.

Texas was led by Tre Johnson who had 20-points and 4 assists on the day. Texas A&M was led by Wade Taylor who finished the game with 29, an amazing 17-18 from the free throw line.

Texas moved on to face the No. 4 seed, the Tennessee Volunteers on Friday at 3:30 PM in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals.
