Louisville’s Jordan Nwora Named to Academic All-America Team

AUSTIN, Texas — March 9, 2020

University of Louisville junior forward Jordan Nwora has been named to the 2019-20 Academic All-America Men’s Basketball second team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Nwora is just the fourth Louisville player ever to attain the honor, joining Wayne Blackshear (2015), Peyton Siva (2013) and Phil Bond (1976).  He joins Florida State’s Trent Forrest – a third-team selection – as the only two ACC players selected among the 15 players on the three national teams.

Nwora, who also earned acclaim on the 2020 All-ACC Academic Team last week for the third time in his Louisville career, has a 3.40 overall GPA in exercise science at UofL and is on target to graduate this summer in just over three years.

On the court, Nwora is the top scorer for the No. 10/10 Cardinals (24-7) and a finalist for national player of the year.  A preseason first team AP All-America selection, Nwora is the only player to rank among the ACC’s top ten in (18.0 ppg, second in the ACC), rebounding (7.7, 8th), free throw percentage (.813, 4th), field goal percentage (.440, 8th) and three-pointers made per game (2.5, 2nd).  Nwora has scored in double figures in 27 games this season and on 67 occasions in his career.

The Academic All-America program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Nwora had previously earned 2020 First-team Academic All-District 2 honors and had advanced to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.
