Lady Commodores subdue Breathitt 89-51.
JACKSON – December 2, 2019 – Brendon D. Miller
Misty McAlarnis tallied her first win as the Head Coach of the Lady Commodore program on Monday in familiar territory. The long time assistant to Legendary Coach Randy Napier, (and State Champion at M.C. Napier under Napier in 1994) came back Airport Gardens to take the reins of the program following Napier’s retirement at the end of last season.
McAlarnis spent her one season as a Head Coach in the Blue and White of Breathitt County in 2018-19 and led the long-time dominant program back to respectability following a 3-21 season in 2017-18. McAlarnis posted a 19-13 record in her one year in Jackson while winning the 55th District Tournament and reaching the Semi-finals of the 14th Region Tournament.
McAlarnis’s assistant at Breathitt, Derek Goff was in his first game in charge of the Lady Cats.
Perry Central controlled the game from the jump forcing multiple turnovers by the Lady Cats with a tenacious press. Perry Central lead 27-15 at the end of the 1st, and then out-scored Breathitt 21-17 to lead 48-32 at the half. Chelsey Napier lead PCC in scoring with 15 in the half.
Perry Central again blitzed Breathitt in the third quarter 28-14, to stretch their lead to 76-46, and closed the game out with a 13-5 advantage in the 4th.
Breathitt has a strong performance by Sophomore forward Adreonna Schutz who provided most of the Lady Cat scoring, sharing game-high honors with Napier with 26.
