No. 12 Kentucky Hosts Georgia Friday Night in Memorial Coliseum

Wildcats looks to up SEC win streak to 30

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 12 Kentucky Volleyball team will play host to the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET inside Memorial Coliseum in Lexington. The match can be seen live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app. Live stats will be available on UKathletics.com.

Friday night’s match with Georgia will be UK’s only match this week.

Tickets are available through the UK Athletics Ticket Office and UKathletics.com.

The Wildcats are currently on a season-high five-match winning streak, having won their last non-conference match vs. Louisville and the first four SEC matches. UK took an epic five-setter off of No. 12 Florida on Sunday afternoon in Lexington to become the first team to 4-0 in the SEC this season.

Kentucky’s win over the Gators in front of a season-high crowd at Memorial upped UK’s SEC winning streak to 29 matches dating back to the 2017 season. It is the longest winning streak of any team in the SEC in any sport at this current moment.

Georgia is just one game back of the Wildcats in the SEC standings, with a 3-1 league record this season. The Dawgs currently sit 11-4 overall and were slotted as the No. 40 team in the country in Monday’s NCAA RPI that was released for the first time. Kentucky was ranked No. 8.

Monday was also the release of SEC Players of the Week, with grad transfer Leah Meyer earning her first weekly award as a Wildcat by being named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week. In Kentucky’s wins over South Carolina and No. 12 Florida, Meyer averaged 1.62 blocks per set at the net and had one of her best offensive weekends as well, with 1.88 kills per set.

Meyer had four kills and 3.5 blocks on Friday night against the Gamecocks in a 3-0 sweep inside of Memorial. In the Wildcats’ five-set win over Florida, the Buffalo, New York native had five kills and 4.0 blocks with six block assists and a solo block.

Kentucky is 44-25 all-time against the Bulldogs, having won each of the last eight matches.
