Owsley County senior guard Jake McCoy led his team with 19 points on their way to a 53-49 victory over Lynn Camp in the Redmond Auto Group Holiday Classic at Bell County.
Owsley led after the first quarter 13-12 and extended their lead to 28-23 at the half. McCoy had 10 of his 19 points at the half and Wes Cope had 8. Lynn Camp cut the lead to 2 points at the end of the third at 37-35. The game continued to be close in the last quarter. Lynn Camp mounted a charge behind the hot hand of Tate Miller who scores 11 of his team high 20 points in the last quarter. But the Owls were able to hold on a win their second game of the season.
The Owls were led by the 20 points of Jake McCoy who also had 5 steals and 3 assists. Wes Cope added 10 points, Dylan Gay 7, Chase Pryse 8, Keegan Herald 4 and 8 rebounds, and Trenton Herald 4.
Lynn Camp scoring: Tate Miller 20, Caleb Woods 13, Hunter Messer 6, Ethan Bird 5, Jayden Woods 3, and Caleb Wilburn 3.
Owsley will play the host school Bell County in the tournament Thursday and will also play Friday.
