Owsley Holds Off a Powell 4th Quarter Rally for District Win

Owsley County played host to Powell on Tuesday Night in a 56th District matchup. Powell jumped out to a lead early in the game, but the Owls came back in the second and third quarters to build a twelve point lead headed to the fourth. Powell made a run, but Owsley was eight of 12 at the line down the stretch to pull out the two-point win.

1st QUARTER
Powell built a lead in the quarter behind two 3-pointers by Jacob Townsend for six and four Cole Dunn. All five Owsley starters scored with Jacob McCoy hitting a 3-pointer and Andrew Noe, Trenton Combs, Seth Schott and McKindrick Little each having a bucket. End of the 1st, Powell was on top 18-11.

2nd QUARTER
Little turned on the offense in the period with 11, including a 3-pointer. McCoy hit his second three and Combs had a three and a basket for five. Powell was only able to put up nine in the period with a Rose 3-pointer and baskets from Dunn, Townsend, Kyle Nickel and Brayden Brandenburg. At intermission, Owsley has ahead by four, 31-27.

3rd QUARTER
Noe heated up with two baskets and a 3-pointer and Combs and Schott each hit a 3-pointer. Brandenburg had two baskets and two free-throws for six, Dunn it a 3-pointer, and Nickel had a basket. Owley increased their lead to eight, 46-38, headed to the fourth.

4th QUARTER
Powell made a run out-soring the Owls 23-16. Brandenburg had two 3-pointers and a basket and Dunn had two baskets and a 3-pointer, as each reached their co-team-high of 16. Noe had two baskets and was four of six at the line hitting his last four for his game-high 19. Combs has two baskets to total 14, and McCoy was three of four at the line to finish in double-digits with 11.

Owsley improves to 5-3 and 3-1 in 56th District play for tournament seeding purposes. Powell falls to 0-6 and 0-2 in District play.
