Owsley County traveled the short distance to Lee County’s Heber Dunaway Gymnasium Monday to take on the Lady Kats in the first district game of the season and came away with an 86-33 victory.
The Lady Owls jumped out to a 30-3 first quarter lead on the back of several 3 point makes and a flurry of steals. Owsley increased the lead to 54-17 at the half and 77-23 after three quarters. The last quarter was finished with the middle school players (5 on the team).
Owsley County placed four players in double figures with center Macey Brown leading the way with a double-double 19 points and 11 rebounds. Laya Lynch scored 15 points and Addie Terry had 13 points with 9 boards. Kenzie Grubb scored 13 points, Kamilla Marcum tallied 4 , Delaney Smith 4, Harley Dooley 3 and Lauren Gay 2.
Lee County’s Hannah Bowling had 17 points, Caden Fox 8, Brooke Philips 3, Trinity Asher 4 and Tenisha Back 4.
The Lady Owls next game will be in the WYMT Mountain Classic Thursday against 13th region power Knox Central and their junior star Halle Collins.
