Elliott takes Checkers at his Hotlanta Home Track

The NASCAR Cup traveled to Hampton, Georgia July 10, 2022 to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Quaker State 400.
Atlanta Motor Speedway continue to host NASCAR Cup Series events since its inaugural season in 1960, and on Sunday Atlanta Motor Speedway entertains its second points race of the season and second race of the newly configured track and car redesign from previous year. Defending race winner Kurt Bush is poised to protect his reigning title.

Piloting the #9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports, William Clyde Elliott II (Chase) added to his resume by collecting his third checkers of the 2022 season and his first at his home track at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Chase resumed the lead on Lap 258 in a “tooth and nail” battle with Corey LaJoie. Corey Lajoie eyeing his first NASCAR win, final lap attempt to regain the lead from Elliott, smacks the safer barrier walls in Turn 1 as result.

The win marked the Georgia native’s 16th victory of his NASCAR Cup Series career. Collecting his third race of the season, separates himself as the driver with the most wins this year and tops of the point’s table standings.
Otherwise, TrackHouse Racing – Ross Chastain mangled ZL1 finished runner-up, followed by season-opening Daytona 500 winner Rookie Austin Cindric.
Erik Jones claimed fourth and All-Star Race winner Ryan Blaney rounded out the top five.
