No. 12/13 Kentucky Travels to North Orlando for The Spring Games
Wildcats to play five games in three days in Florida
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 12/13 Kentucky Softball team will make its second trip to Florida of the 2020 pre-conference schedule this weekend, as it travels to Orlando to compete in the 2020 Spring Games. The Wildcats will play five games over a three-day stretch beginning on Friday.
UK will face off against Loyola-Chicago, Florida International, Western Michigan, Detroit and Dartmouth during the tournament at Soldier’s Creek Softball Complex in North Orlando.
All five games of the tournament for UK will be played on Field #1 with UKathletics.com housing live stats for the games. FLOsoftball will be streaming the games on its website with a proper subscription.
Kentucky currently sits 12-3 overall on the campaign with a national ranking of No. 12 in the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association/USA Today top-25, and one spot lower in the USA Softball/ESPN.com poll. The Wildcats are off to their best start record-wise since the 2014 season, which saw UK advance to the Women’s College World Series for the first time in program history.
Alex Martens leads the nation in RBI right now, having logged 26 through the opening 15 games of the season. Bailey Vick is coming off of the best statistical weekend of her career, hitting .750 on the week with 15 hits in 20 at bats, and having been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, D1Softball National Player of the Week and Justin’s World of Softball Co-Player of the Week.
This weekend marks the final out-of-conference weekend for the Wildcats before Southeastern Conference play picks up next weekend. UK will be hosting Texas A&M at John Cropp Stadium for the SEC Series of the Week on SEC Opening Weekend, with Monday’s game serving as “Mic’d Up Monday” on the SEC Network.
