Stage 2 displayed Sweden’s Rookie Shane van Gisbergen pronouncing his presence with aggressive progression compliments of fresh Goodyears’. SVG sliced through the field and controled the pace in the early segment of Stage 2.
A logistic decision to hit pit lane, forfeited SVG’s rein at the front. Cup Champ Ryan Blaney team’s decision to refuse pit attention, paid off in the closing laps collecting Stage 2 Checkers accompanied with valuable Playoff points.

15 Laps of scheduled completion found Shane van Gisbergen rotating to the front after final pit service was competed. The cream rose to the top as Gisbergen took advantage of clean air and available track lines rewarding him up to a 11 second deficit from the closest contenders as laps become few.
Shan van Gisbergen’s Checkers at Watkins Glen International signifies the first time a driver achieved four wins in their NASCAR Cup Series’ rookie season campaign.
