UK quarterback Cutter Boley was 18-of-21 through the air for 236 yards and one passing touchdown. He registered an impressive 30-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, which featured him trucking a defender.
When talking after the game about Boley trucking a defender, UK head coach Mark Stoops said that wants to see Boley protect himself; but also acknowledged the energy that a play like that can have on the team.
Dante Dowdell led all players in rushing yards with 87 off 13 carries for one touchdown. RB Seth McGowan tallied 17 carries for 72 yards and three touchdowns.
WR Kendrick Law registered 11 catches and 124 yards off 11 targets. He led all players in all three categories. Eight players caught a pass for UK; but no one besides Law accounted for more than two receptions.
Defensively, UK defensive coordinator Brad White said that he was “not particularly pleased” with how Kentucky’s defense performed. White said the unit made simple, self-inflicted mistakes; which he referred to as “training camp” mistakes.
Kentucky totaled 468 yards, while allowing 264. UK rushed for 207 yards in addition to registering 25 first downs.
The Cats are now 5-5 on the season, while Tennessee Tech is 10-1. Up next for UK is a road game against No. 13 Vanderbilt on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 3:30 p.m.
