What a win it was for the Kentucky Wildcats and head coach Will Stein. The Cats earned a 31-21 victory at No. 9 Texas A&M on Saturday.
Whereas the second half wasn’t ideal last week, it went about as well as possible for UK this week. Kentucky outscored the Aggies 21-0 in the third quarter.
UK quarterback Kenny Minchey was 14-of-18 through the air for 252 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Wide receiver DJ Miller tallied five receptions for 96 yards, which led the team in both categories.
On the ground, the Cats tallied 156 yards and two TDs off 36 carries. Starting RB CJ Baxter registered 19 carries for 87 yards and two scores.
Kentucky’s defense made some pivotal plays in key moments. The Cats had two interceptions, eight pass breakups, five QB hurries, and two TFLs. Defensive back Jordan Castell accounted for a game-leading 13 total tackles, while registering one interception and one pass breakup.
UK advances to 2-1 (1-1 SEC) on the season, while the Aggies drop to 2-1 (0-1 SEC.) Up next, the Cats host South Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 12:45 p.m.
