Ty Back is a native of Breathitt County Kentucky where he currently lives with his beautiful wife Stefaine and their daughter Parker. Ty’s hobbies include watching and playing sports, 4-wheeling with his family, hunting, playing music, dirt track races, tubing at the lake, old cars, jeeps, motorcycles, riding horses, and vacationing with family. He is currently and always has been a University of Kentucky Wildcat fan and is honored to be a current employee of the University of Kentucky.
Ty is a two-time graduate of Morehead State University where he earned his Master’s Degree in Agriculture Education, and his undergraduate degree in Biology. Just out of college he began his career in research at the University of Kentucky Robinson Center research farm. From there Ty became the 4-H Youth Development Agent in Magoffin County in late 2004. In 2008, he transferred back home to Breathitt County as the 4-H Youth Development Agent, working with youth both in the classroom and at various activities throughout the county. In 2011, Ty was elected as the Kentucky Association of Extension 4-H Agent’s State President by his 120 other colleagues. He has also served in numerous state and regional leadership positions while 4-H Agent. In 2012, Ty shifted his focus to agriculture and became Breathitt County’s Agriculture and Natural Resource Extension Agent. In this roll he has the opportunity to impact the many families of Breathitt County on a daily basis. Ty was instrumental in funding the local Farmer’s Market and has received over $100,000 in grant funding for local gardening programs. Ty really enjoys helping people make their lives better.
