Tyler Reddick advances to the Round of 12 Playoffs with Victory at Kansas Speedway!

Kansas City, KS – September 10, 2023

The NASCAR Cup Series visitedKansas City for the Second Playoff Race of the 2023 Campaign hosted by the Kansas Speedway.  Kansas Speedway was constructed in 2001 and hosted the tracks first NASCAR Cup Series race in 2011. The Kansas Speedway entertains 2 scheduled yearly NASCAR Cup Races.  The latter of the two races was spotlighted last weekend as a Playoff Competition.

Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson occupied the front row to start off the 267 scheduled laps on the 1.5-mile tri oval located in the Village West area near Kansas City, Kansas.  

Hollywood Casino 400 – Stage 1 Recap:

Christopher Bell and previous 2023 Playoff race winner Kyle Larson battled for position as the Stage 1 session opened. Taking advantage of Martin Truex Jr’s track misfortunes accredited to tire issues, Larson maneuvered through the field and secured the lead by Lap 45 of 80 scheduled Stage 1 laps.

Hollywood Casino 400 – Stage 2

Recap:

Cup Champ and Non-Playoff Contender Chase Elliott had a great start to open Stage 2.

Fan Favorite Elliott showed some signs of aggression, trading paint with Larson as the battle continued during the first quarter of Stage 2.  With help from a Bubba Wallace Caution Flag, Elliott took charge with just 5 laps remaining.

Cup Champ Brad Keselowski stayed on pace with the leaders, Brad shot past lap leader Chase Elliot to take lead and a clear the way to the Stage 2 Checkers at the Sunflower State.

Hollywood Casino 400 – Final Stage

Recap:

As the Final Stage Green flag flied, Brad Keselowski continued his reign at the post. A Caution Flag on Lap 175 interrupted the event courtesy of Carson Hocevar.  Carson sustained damage as he was bolted into the safety barrier wall.

By Lap 231 Denny Hamlin had taken the lead as Tyler Reddick gnawed at his back bumper. A Final Caution with 7 laps remaining set the field for a final shoot out for the Checkers.

With 1 to go, Tyler Reddick muscled 3 wide around Erik Jones and Cup Champ Joey Logano  to inherit the lead.  Tyler Reddick checked off his 5 Cup win and a Playoff Ticket to the Round of 12 with Kansas Speedway Victory
