LEXINGTON – September 12, 2026 – Bluegrass Sports Nation

It was a solid first half, but a less-than-appealing second half for Kentucky football. The Cats led 17-13 at halftime, but were outscored 32-0 in the second half. It was a deflating ending for an amped-up crowd at Kroger Field.

Kentucky QB Kenny Minchey was 18-of-31 through the air for 146 yards, one touchdown, and one interception to go with one lost fumble. Alabama QB Keelon Russell was 16-of-23 for 188 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

UK rushed for 63 yards in the game, while the Crimson Tide tallied 155. Third downs were a real challenge for the Kentucky offense. UK was 1-of-14 on third downs, while Alabama was 5-of-11.

The potential gain in prestige for Kentucky and the Will Stein era with a win would have been massive. Instead, the final score indicates a blowout. It’ll be interesting to see where things go from here. The Cats have a tough task next week at No. 10 Texas A&M. That game will be played at 3:30 p.m.
