No. 13 Kentucky to host No. 23 Illinois on Friday at 7 p.m. ET in season’s final home meet
LEXINGTON, Ky. – March 5, 2020
In its final home meet of the 2020 season, No. 13 Kentucky (6-5, 3-4 Southeastern Conference) is set to welcome No. 23 Illinois (10-5, 4-5 Big Ten Conference) to Memorial Coliseum on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, live on SEC Network+.
The competition will serve as Kentucky’s annual senior night, honoring Mollie Korth, Hailey Poland, Alaina Kwan and Katherine Marianos. The foursome joins the likes of No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 7 Denver and No. 12 Washington as the only senior classes from Power Five conferences whose four-season runs rank among the top four highest-scoring seasons by average in the history of their respective programs.
The class of 2020 has been part of every 197-point performance in UK history, as well as the school’s first NCAA Championship appearance in 2018.
Korth, an eight-time All-American and three-time All-SEC selection, led the Wildcats last week with outright wins on all-around (39.575) and vault (9.925), as well as a tie with freshman Shealyn Luksik for the victory on uneven bars (9.875), in her team’s 197.200-196.650 loss at then-No. 9 Alabama.
With last week’s defeat, Kentucky finished its conference slate with a 3-4 record for the fourth consecutive season.
Illinois enters Sunday on the heels of its own senior day, having defeated Central Michigan 196.225-195.500. The Fighting Illini defeated Kentucky 195.175-195.100 in a quad meet in Champaign, Illinois, on Jan. 13, 2019.
Kentucky broke the first of two single-meet program scoring records in last year’s senior night with a 197.525-195.875 triumph over Central Michigan.
