LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville redshirt freshman running back Javian Hawkins was named ACC Rookie of the Week after a standout performance against Virginia, the conference office announced Monday.
Hawkins rushed for 136 yards, his fifth 100-yard game of the season, in a 28-21 conference win over the Cavaliers on Saturday. He scored multiple rushing touchdowns for the first time in his career to give him six on the season, tying Michael Bush for the fifth most rushing touchdowns by a freshman at Louisville.
The native of Titusville, Fla., recorded his fifth-straight 100-yards rushing game at home, becoming the first player in school history to record such a feat.
On the season, Hawkins has rushed for 887 yards, the 13th-best total in the country. He needs just 113 yards to become the first running back to rush for 1,000 yards in a season since Bilal Powell ran for 1,405 yards in 2010.
The Cardinals are off this week before traveling to Miami to face the Hurricanes on Nov. 9 at 3:30 p.m.
