Kentucky’s 111-76 victory over UT Martin was a class of freshmen scoring. With Isaiah Briscoe sitting out a second straight game, Kentucky started four freshmen. UK’s first 30 points of the second half belonged to the freshmen.
Malik Monk led all scorers with career highs of 26 points and seven assists, while scoring 18 points in the second half extending Kentucky’s lead to as many as 48points.
De’Aaron Fox added an additional 16 points.
Bam Adebayo had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, both career highs. Wenyen Gabriel added a career high of 15 points. Sacha Killeya-Jones became a fifth UK freshman in double figures with 12 points which was also a career high for him.
Kentucky lead at halftime with a 53-38 lead due to a 13-2 advantage in made free throws. Tennessee-Martin committed 14 fouls in the first half. Tennessee-Martin’s 38 points were the most scored in a first half against Kentucky so far this season.
Kentucky continues to look more and more impressive each game.
The 111 points were UK’s highest single-game total in the John Calipari era.
