Coach Calipari again has his troops ready for a great season.

Rupp Arena- Lexington, KY – This one was over FAST! In what was an historic night with many all-time scoring records falling along the way, the Wildcats got in a last tune up prior to beginning regular season play against Stephen F. Austin Friday night at 7:00pm in Rupp. The Cats started 3 guards as well as Bam Adebayo and Derek Willis. Not that it mattered who started because everyone who played scored and scored at will.

This one turned into a dunk fest as the Cats recorded 29 of them on the night. The two plays that really stood out were Malik Monks move from half court which ended with him posterizing an Asbury player with a slam, that also made ESPN Sports Center. The one play that all the UK players were raving about was Mychal Mulder’s one handed jam over an Asbury defender. The arena and the bench went crazy!

Of all the takeaways from this terribly lopsided win, was the marked improvement of Mulder’s confidence and play. He hit 4 three pointers and rebounded the ball very well. If he can use this game as a stepping stone, the senior from Canada can certainly be an important piece to the puzzle. His outside scoring ability will be another weapon for this young but extremely talented team.

It’s going to be a very fun year to be a Kentucky Wildcat Basketball fan!
