Hazard Hits Century Mark, Wins Fifth Straight

Hazard’s Senior backcourt of Wade Pelfrey and Jarrett Napier put on a dominating performance on Monday Night as the Bulldogs hit triple digits in their 101-71 victory over Cordia in Memorial Gymnasium. Pelfrey was two rebounds short of a triple-double with 29 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. Napier, always a defensive constant for the Dogs, scored a career-high 26 on the night, as the combo put a combined 55 on the board. The win was the Bulldog’s fifth in a row after beginning the season with losses to Knott Central and Martin County.

1st QUARTER
Hazard put their track shoes on from the flip in this one as the Bulldogs put up 28 in the first quarter. Napier had nine and Jamal Hazell six. Cordia hist three 3-pointers in the period by Nazir Welch, Donovan Stidham and Dylan Grigsby. The Bulldogs were up 15, 28-13 at the first break.

2nd QUARTER
Pelfrey got going in the 2nd with eight and Napier added five. Stidahm hit two more threes and Grigsby added another for the Lions. At the half, Hazard led 50-28.

3rd QUARTER
Napier had five field goals in the quarter for ten, Bulldog forward Andrew Ford added six. Nazim Welch had nine the quarter. Headed to the fourth, Hazard led 74-49.

4th QUARTER
Pelfrey closed out the game with ten in the quarter, while star 8th Grader Samuel Shoptaw had seven and Max Johnson added five. Nazim Welch had nine, Nazir Welch six, and Grigsby six down the stretch.
