LEXINGTON – September 13, 2025 – BRADLEY CHARLES

The anticipation around seeing quarterback Cutter Boley get significant playing time was one of the most popular storylines entering UK’s game against Eastern Michigan on Saturday. Boley received the start, and played well against the Eagles.

In his first start for the Cats this season, UK won 48-23 as Boley went 12-for-21 through the air for 240 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The Hodgenville, Ky., native connected with tight ends Willie Rodriguez and Josh Kattus respectively on his two passing touchdowns. Boley also tallied five carries for 24 yards.

“I was pleased with the way he played,” UK head coach Mark Stoops said. “There were some plays where there were some other things out there like we mentioned in the first two games that he’ll look at and know that he can play better as well; and get more comfortable. But, overall; very, very pleased.”

Stoops did not name Boley as the starter moving forward. “I don’t think it would be right for me to make that decision right here and now,” Stoops said.

Eastern Michigan allowed a total of 80 points in its first two games of the season, which were against Texas State and Long Island respectively. It’s important to keep that in mind, but it’s still a positive that Boley and the UK offense registered the success it did against the Eagles.

Kentucky advanced to 2-1 on the season, while Eastern Michigan is now 0-3. UK’s first road game of the season is up next for Kentucky as the Cats will play at No. 11 South Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 27.
