Jets Score 23 Points in the 4th Quarter for Win

CINCINNATI – October 26, 2025 – Brendon D. Miller

The Bengals came into Week Eight with a chance to right the season and get back to .500 on the season after the big Thursday Night win against Pittsburgh, and welcomed the winless Jets to Paycor on Sunday. Bengaldom was revived after the offense had come alive under Joe Flacco and were feeling the vibes of the Bengals winning streak on the horizon. The persistent issue of the ability of the defense to make stops was the question coming into the game as the Jets offense would be limited without Garrett Wilson. Alas, the defense would be the deciding factor on this day.

GAME RECAP

1st Quarter

The Jets won the flip and deferred. The Bengals offense started off hot behind a big run from Chase Brown and Flacco hitting Noah Fant and Tanner Hudson on the drive covering 67 yards in 11 plays. The drive stalled at the New York eight yard line, and McPherson connected from 26 to put the Bengals on top 3-0 at 10:14 in the first.

The Jets opted to go for a 4th and 1 from their own 37 on their first possession. The Bengals defense made the stop as Barrett Carter made the play and gave the ball to the offense on the Jet 35. From there, running back Samaje Perine ran the ball inside the 1-yard line, where Flacco got some help from tight end Drew Sample for a quarterback sneak into the end zone as the Bengals covered the 35 yards in five plays. Bengals up 10-0, 5:35 first quarter.

Both defenses stepped up with three and outs as the first quarter ended.

2nd Quarter

The Jets generated some offense to start the second as they drive into Bengals territory. Facing another 4th-and-short, they opted for a Nick Folk 46 yard field goal. At 12:12, the Bengals were on top 10-3.

The Bengals came back with a quick strike as Flacco hooked up with Tee Higgins on the third play of the drive for his only catch of the game for a 44 yard deep ball as he streaked by the defender. Bengals were up 17-3 at 10:45 in the quarter.

As it looked like the Bengals may run away, the Jets put together an impressive drive. The Bengals’ defensive line couldn’t get pressure on Fields, and he was able to complete multiple passes underneath. Fields hit Tyler Johnson for a touchdown on 4th-and-2 from 15 yards out as the pressure got there a moment too late. The Jets went 78 yards in nine plays, and trailed 17-10 at the 5:27 mark.

Cincy struck back immediately as Flacco hit Chase Brown who bulled into the endzone on the 19 yard catch and run for the TD!! Bengals again looked in control at the 1:15 mark with the 10 play, 65 yard drive, to lead 24-10.

The Jets put together a very good drive to end the first half. The defense tightened up in the red zone with time on their side to force a Folk 25 yard field goal before the end of the half with Cincinnati up 24-13.

3rd Quarter

The Jets has possession to start the half and the Bengals forced a three and out, but they had a three and out of their own.

The Jets get some life as running back Isiah Davis broke off a 50-yard run after breaking a tackle at the line of scrimmage, and Jordan Battle made a touchdown-saving tackle. The drive stalled in the red zone and Folk connected again from 24 to make it 24-16 with 4:31 to go in the quarter.

The Bengals’ offense then got some rhythm on the next drive. Flacco picked up a first down on 3rd and 11. Samanje Perine broke free and got his touchdown that he fell a yard short of in the first quarter from 32 yards, capping an eight play 65 yard drive. The lead was at 15, at 31-16 as the quarter ended.

4th Quarter

The New York’s offense then went to work on what would be an epic quarter for them. Breece Hall had a 35-yard run and then went in untouched from five to cap at six play 66 yard drive. Fields ran in the 2-point conversion where he out ran several defenders. The Bengals lead was 31-24 at 14:17.

The Bengals offense answered with its own ground-and-pound drive. Perine started the drive with two runs for a combined 32 yards, and then, after a couple of quick throws to Chase, Brown finished off the drive with 18 more yards and his second touchdown of the game to get the lead up to 14 points. Drive seven play, seventy three yards in 3:56. Bengals led 38-24 at the 10:21 mark. That would be the last points for the Bengals on the day.

The Jets would not be stopped the rest of the game. New York went 60 yards on five plays hitting pay dirt as Hall broke free for a touchdown from 27. After Fields connected on the conversion, the score was 38-32 with 7:48 on the clock.

The offense could do nothing and gave up the first sack of the game.

The Jets got the ball back with 6:50 left and and worked the clock down to a 1st-and-goal at the two minute warning. The next play, Breece Hall took the pitch and then hit Masan Taylor who made the catch over D.J. Turner. Folk was good on the PAT and the Jets led for the first time on the day 39-38 with 1:48 to go.

The Bengals had plenty of time to get into field goal range, but could not do so. On 4th-and-9. Andrei Iosivas had his third drop of the day on the play to end the game.

The Bengals are in disarray. This season may now be in the books.

The winless Jets gained 502 yards. That is all that needs to be known. The Bengals Defense is just bad under Al Golden.
