Battle for Rupp
Tonight’s 14th Region High School Basketball action at Breathitt County High School consisted of two quality games. The first contest was the Letcher County Central Cougars taking on the Perry Central Commodores. This game was an amazing battle between two of the top teams in the 14th Region. The Perry County Central Commodores edged out the Letcher County Central Cougars 57-50.
Perry Central led at the half by 9 points and maintained the lead the entire 2nd half. Prince Anosike led the Commodores with 22 points while shooting 11-17 from the field. Damon Tobler added 13 points while shooting 6-7 from the field, which included a key 3 point basket to close the first half, to perpel the Commodores to the win. Tobler also played all 32 minutes in the game.
Senior Terrell Carter led the way for the Cougars with 18 points and shooting 8-21 from the field. Elijah Raglin added 13 points and was 5-11 from the field. The Cougars had 4 players that played the entire 32 minutes, which includes Seniors Terrell Carter and Austin Caudill.
Perry Central shot 57% from the field the first half and ended up shooting 62% overall from the field. Letcher Central ended up shooting 42% from the field after only shooting 32% the first half.
The Perry County Central Commodores will play the Knott County Central Patriots on Tuesday, March 7th for the right to move on to the Sweet 16 Tournament at Rupp Arena.
