This week was not very busy throughout the 14th Region. Many teams were returning from holiday tournaments and most are getting geared up for the All “A” Classic. As the second semester the school year is starting, here is a look back at the week that was and my new weekly rankings.
53rd DISTRICT
CORDIA (0-9) – Cordia played two gameS at home and went winless. They lost the first 83-24 to Letcher County Central. Cordia lost their second game of the week to Rose Hill Christian 52-19.
JUNE BUCHANAN (3-4) – June Buchanan did not play this week.
KNOTT CENTRAL (7-6) – Knott County Central won their only game of the week at home over a good Harlan County team by a score of 79-70.
LETCHER CENTRAL (10-5) – Letcher County Central won both of their games by large margins during the week. They went on the road to defeat Cordia 83-24 and then came home and beat Harlan 75-44.
54th DISTRICT
BUCKHORN (4-8) – Buckhorn did not play this week.
HAZARD (7-4) – Hazard started the week finishing up in Sandestin Beach with a 54-39 win over Brookwood School (Georgia). They finished up the week at home with an 85-79 overtime win over Whitley County.
LESLIE COUNTY (7-5) – Leslie County won their only game of the week at home over Betsy Layne by a score of 83-72.
PERRY CENTRAL (2-10) – Perry County Central did not play this week.
55th DISTRICT
BREATHITT COUNTY (1-8) – Breathitt County lost their only game of the week at home to Owsley County 74-49.
JACKSON CITY (4-5) – Jackson City did not play this week.
RIVERSIDE CHRISTIAN (5-3) – Riverside Christian lost their only game of the week to Wolfe County on the road by a score of 61-42.
WOLFE COUNTY (9-3) – Wolfe County won their only game of the week over Riverside Christian 61-42 at home.
56th DISTRICT
ESTILL COUNTY (3-8) – Estill County lost their only game of the week at Powell County 52-46.
LEE COUNTY (0-10) – Lee County dropped their only game of the week 57-22 at Owsley County.
OWSLEY COUNTY (9-4) – Owsley County won both of their games on the week by sizable margins. They started with a 74-49 win at Breathitt County. The Lady Owls finished the week with a 57-22 home win over Lee County.
POWELL COUNTY (3-8) – Powell County claimed a 52-46 home win over Estill County in their only game of the week.
