CATS Fall to Notre Dame for Fourth Straight Loss

The Fighting Irish controlled the game, as UK never led after the first two-and-a-half minutes of the opening half. Despite a 16-0 second-half run, Kentucky could not overcome Notre Dame’s 22-point halftime lead.

Ultimately, Notre Dame held a 33-9 lead near the midway mark of the first half, which was a deficit that proved to be too much for UK to surpass. In the end, the Fighting Irish picked up a 64-63 victory.

The good news for BBN is that the Cats did outscore Notre Dame 37-16 in the second half and had a last-second shot that would have won the game.

For the first time in the John Calipari era, Kentucky lost back-to-back games inside of Rupp Arena. Beyond that, the Cats have now lost four straight games, which has only happened one other time during Calipari’s tenure with UK.

Brandon Boston Jr., Terrence Clarke, and Olivier Sarr combined to score 50 points. Sarr played particularly well as he tallied 22 points on 11-of-16 shooting to go along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

The Cats struggled from 3-point range in the first three games of the season, but went 8-of-20 against Georgia Tech. Kentucky’s woes from beyond the arc continued against the Fighting Irish as the Cats were 5-of-23 from 3-point range.

UK’s next game is scheduled to be against UCLA on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 2:00 p.m. it will be televised on CBS.
