The Lady Cougars and Lady Commodores tangled on Saturday afternoon at John C. Combs Arena. Both teams were looking for a win with each coming off a loss and each with sub-500 records with Letcher at 3-4 and Perry at 2-4.
1st QUARTER The Lady Cougars had four players score in the period with Brooke Bates leading with seven, Tori Holcomb hit two 3-pointers for six, Kaylee Bates four and Loren Boggs two. Chelsey Napier had seven to lead the Commodores, with Emmalee Neace adding six, Katie Dunnigan two and Rani McIntyre one. End of the 1st, Letcher 19 – Perry 16.
2nd QUARTER Letcher won the 2nd 16-12 as Holcomb had seven, Boggs four, Bates and Banks with two each, and Jaylin Whitt one. Perry had scoring from Neace with six, Dunnigan four, and McIntyre and Napier two each.
3rd QUARTER The 3rd was low-scoring with Letcher tallying 10 and Perry 9. Letcher scorers were Boggs and Bailey Kincer with four each and Holcomb two. Perry had one basket in the period from Napier. The rest of the Lady Commodore points came from the line with Neace going four of four, McIntyre two of two and Dunning hitting one of two. End of the 3rd, Letcher 45 – Perry 37.
4th QUARTER Both teams opened it up offensively in the final period with Perry putting up 25. Neace had ten to set her game-high 25, and Dunnigan also had ten with both hitting a 3-pointer. Kyra McAlarnis and Lexie Mullins each had a basket for their only points of the game. The Lady Cougars also had their highest scoring quarter of the game with 21. Banks had a 3-pointer and a basket and Boggs has a basket with the rest of the 14 point coming from the line. Letcher was 14 of 20 in the quarter.
