Hazard traveled to Hyden on Friday for a 54th District Matchup with the Lady Eagles. Hazard entered the game at 4-10 and off a 20-point loss to Powell County, while Leslie entered the matchup at 7-3. The Lady Eagles dominated this one opening an early lead and then eventually running the clock in the 2nd half for the 71-42 win.
1st QUARTER The Lady Eagles had six players score, led by sophomore guard Courtney Hoskins with five, and sophomore center Emma Napier with four. Senior center Annie Harris scored seven of the Lady Bulldogs 10. At the end of the quarter, Leslie led 18-10.
2ND QUARTER Leslie County’s offense heated up in the 2nd posting 28 points. Sophomore guard Iris Napier, led the way with 14 as she hit four 3-pointers in the period. Senior forward Emily Bowling tossed in seven points as Leslie extended the lead to 29 at the half, 46-17.
3rd QUARTER The Lady Eagles offense was balanced with seven different players scoring. Leslie outscored Hazard 15-2 in the period, resulting in a running clock.
4th QUARTER The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Eagles 23-10 as senior guard Libby Danner scored 14 points. Sophomore forward Bailey Smith paced Leslie with five points and 7th grade guard Ava Napier contributed three. When the final horn sounded Leslie was victorious by a final of 71-42.
