Bell Rolls at Roval

Christopher Bell advances to the Round of 8 with Roval Victory.

CONCORD, N.C. – October 9, 2022 – Anthony Holbrook

The NASCAR Cup Series Playoff’s accelerated to Charlotte, North Carolina for the final road course race of the 2022 season. The 2.32-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway road course stretches over 17 corners.

The Bank of America Roval 400 sets the field for the Round of 8 while four playoff drivers are set to be eliminated after the conclusion. 

Joey Logano led the field to green for 109 scheduled laps of adrenaline.

As Joey Logano and William Byron jockey for position, both opted to stay out as drivers hit pit service with 3 laps remain in Stage 1.

After conclusion of Stage 1, Joey Logano and the rest of the contenders head for the pit lane. Tyler Reddick cycles to the race lead while Joey Logano restarts 24th

Green flag on stage two, Tyler Reddick clears A J Allmendinger into turn one for the lead.

3 to go in stage two, many drivers are forced to pit lane under green flag conditions. As well, AJ Allmendinger who leads the field will attend pit service relinquishing the race lead.

Ross Chastain stays out and he takes the Stage 2 win on the Charlotte Roval.

Ross Chastain hits the pits for liquid courage while AJ Allmendinger cycles back to the lead.  Ross Chastain ends up 24th spot on the Final Stage restart.

32 to go, Chase Elliott rotates to the front of the line in result to strategic pit service timing. Tyler Reddick occupies 2nd along with AJ Allmendinger in 3rd sporting fresher tires.

Many drivers head for the pit lane 5 to go as debris brings out the caution flag.

Christopher Bell is the first car to pit for new tires and a dog that wants to fight.

Chase Elliott and AJ Allmendinger continue to  run door to door entering into turn one restart, AJ Allmendinger bolts Chase Elliott off line and seizes the lead!

AJ will have a taste of medicine as Kevin Harvick returns the favor, bumping AJ out of the post.

Kevin Harvick and Christopher Bell battle into turn one after a Ty Dillon caution flag scrambled the field.

Christopher Bell wins the restart battle as veteran Kevin Harvick forfiets the lead.

Chase Briscoe drives into the backstretch chicane passes two cars with 1 circuit remaining and locks himself into the playoffs which raised controversy among the final running order.

 

NASCAR CUP Officials will review Cole Custer’s car decelerating incident, allowing teammate Chase Briscoe’s advancement above the Playoff cut off line.

NASCAR Cup Officials will review Cole Custer’s car decelerating incident, allowing teammate Chase Briscoe’s advancement above the Playoff – Cut Off Line after Bank of America ROVAL 400.

 

The Round of 8 begins next weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first of three races to decide the Championship 4.
