BUCKHORN – January 15, 2020 – BRENDON D. MILLER

Wade Pelfrey put on a show in the first quarter to put the Bulldogs on track to a convincing win in their 54th District opener for both teams. From there the Bulldogs cruised on to a 81-60 win.

Pelfrey struck early and often in the early going as he knocked down three 3-pointers and three field goals in the quarter for 17 of his game-high 27. Hazard’s defense held the Wildcats to eight points, and the score at the end of one, was 28-8.

Hazard continued to be efficient on offense in the 2nd, and with more balanced scoring. Jarrett Napier had six, and eighth-grader Samuel Shoptaw had five, with Pelfrey, Max Johnson, and Sawyer Patrick each adding four. Christian Collins had ten of his team-high 24 in the quarter, going six of six at the line. The Bulldogs out-scored Buckhorn 27-17 to lead at the half 55-26.
