William Byron hits the Jackpot at Las Vegas Motor Speedway!

The NASCAR Cup Series rolled to the Las Vegas vicinity for running of the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube hosted by Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Located less than 20 miles from Famous Las Vegas Strip, the 1.5 mile Tri-Oval Speedway hosted their first NASCAR Cup event on March 1, 1998. 

The Pennzoil 400 offers a scheduled 267 Laps (400 Miles) of excitement for as drivers battle for a cherished playoff ticket.

Stage 1 Recap: – 2023 Pennzoil 400

Laps: 80

Stage 1 –  Joey Logano wins the battle into turn three to pace the field as the green flag is waved for today’s event.

Joey Logano’s Penske Ford will lead the early laps only to accosted and overtook by a charging Hendrick Chevy, piloted by William Byron.

William Byron race team’ splits Stage 1 laps, attending Pit Service under a green-flag conditions, as 38 laps remain.  An efficient pit stop will recycle Byron back to the front followed by 2nd place contender Kyle Larson.

Stage 2 –Toyota comrade Denny Hamlin will introduce his bumper and bolts William Byron to the lead upon Stage 2 restart.

With cautions flags scarce, Race Teams schedule Pit Stops once again under the green flag. 

William Byron will be the final team to opt for green flag pit service allowing his Chevy to recycling back to lead.

Final Stage Recap – 2023 Pennzoil 400

Laps: 102

Stage 3 – The Green Flag opens the final Stage, Intensity builds as displayed by an aggressive bump from Alex Bowman for which allows William Byron the opportunity to regain the lead. 

Counting 80 Laps to go, Tempers flare as teams jockey for position only to run out of real-estate.  Joey Logano will receive the short end and slammed into the Turn 4 safer barrier wall inviting a caution flag.  2022 NASCAR Cup Champ Joey Logano hopes for a prosperous finish will end after damage sustained.

Only 4 scheduled laps remaining, a final caution flag, courtesy of Aric Almirola will set the field for a final shoot out for the checker flag at Vegas.

William Byron along with teammate Kyle Larson team up with a 2 tire pit service and exit pit service on top. 

Martin Truex Jr. gambles, declines pit service and stay out for track position.  Truex Jr. worn tires prevail as an approaching William Byron utilizes his fresher right side Goodyears to the lead.
