College Football – Could this be biggest game in UK Football History

Lexington, KY – 10-31-18 – Michael Willis – Bluegrass Sports Nation Columnist

Game Preview: Kentucky vs. Georgia

Kentucky will host Georgia this Saturday in perhaps the biggest game for the Kentucky football program in 30+ years. The winner of this game will likely be the SEC East Champion and will face Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Big Blue Nation has been dreaming about a game like this for decades. Finally, the hard work that Mark Stoops, the staff, and the players have put in is now paying off. The years of heartbreak, bad calls, and bad luck that the fans have experienced over the past seasons have came to an end this year.

Kentucky’s offense has been dreadful over the last three games. However, the last drive against Missouri showed that the weapons are there to score points. Georgia have held their opponents to 16.3 points per game, so scoring may be a real issue. Benny Snell is set to have a big game. Georgia’s defense allows 140 rushing yards a game and they haven’t played against a running back like Benny Snell.

The Bulldogs will have the same problem putting up points as Kentucky. Kentucky is only allowing 108 yards a game rushing and the Wildcat’s opponents are averaging 13 points a game. Georgia’s offense is balanced between rushing and passing. Their quarterback, Jake Fromm, is averaging 206 yards a game and has 16 touchdowns. Georgia’s, Elijah Holyfield and D’Andre Swift, are the leading rushers of the team averaging 70 and 58 yards respectively.

Game Prediction

This is going to be a defensive game. In a matchup like this you must find ways to score points. Field goals may determine the winner of this game. Having the home field advantage is huge and it is why I am picking the Cats in a 17 to 13 victory.
