SEC announces conference awards following 2024 Championship
LEXINGTON – March 27, 2024
Head Coach Tim Garrison has been named Southeastern Conference Co-Coach of the Year with LSU’s Jay Clark while Creslyn Brose, Isabella Magnelli, Arianna Patterson, and Raena Worley were named All-SEC and All-Freshman SEC, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Tim Garrison – SEC Co-Coach of the Year
Garrison, in his 13th season at the helm of Kentucky gymnastics, has had one of his most successful seasons to date as head coach. Early in the regular season, the Wildcats set the highest meet score in program history, 197. 950, later breaking that record to set an even higher overall score five meets later, 198.100. The Conroe, Texas native also led the program to its highest away meet score to date which placed a new third-best overall meet score in the record books with a 197.925.
Seeing their highest ranking so far this season at No. 3, the Cats also set new heights leading into postseason. For the second consecutive year, Kentucky entered the SEC Championship as the No. 3 overall seed. UK went on to place third overall setting a new program best finish at the Championship. The Wildcats have now qualified for regional competition every year since Garrison took over the program in 2011.
Garrison’s conference Coach of the Year honor is the third of his coaching career with the Wildcats. He first won the award in 2018 winning it a second time last season in 2023.
All-SEC
The All-SEC Team is comprised of the student-athletes with the top two scores (including ties) on each event and in the All-Around competition in the first session and second sessions of the SEC Championship.
Isabella Magnelli
- Tied for second on the balance beam – 9.950
Isabella Magnelli, aka the Beam Queen, earns All-SEC honors for her performance at the SEC Championship on the balance beam for the second consecutive year. She has been consistent on the event all season currently possessing an NQS of 9.935. Magnelli has also scored a 9.900 or better on the event in eight of the past 12 meets repeating her season best 9.950 now three times in 2024.
Arianna Patterson
- Placed second on vault – 9.925
Arianna Patterson earns All-SEC honors for her strong showing on vault where she earned a 9.925. Her front handspring pike half has earned her an NQS of 9.920 this season as she has repeated her SEC Championship score, and season best, five times. Patterson closes the final conference competition of her college career as a three-time All-SEC honoree following this year’s award.
Raena Worley
- Co-Champion on the floor exercise – 9.975
- Tied for second on the balance beam – 9.950
- Placed third in the all-around competition – 39.625
Raena Worley had an impressive four rotations at the final conference contest of her college career. Her 9.975 on the floor exercise earned the Co-Champion title. She is the first conference champion for UK gymnastics since 2018 when Sidney Dukes earned the title on the apparatus. Worley’s Michael Jackson-inspired floor routine has earned her incredible marks this season including four perfect 10.0’s and an NQS of 9.990. On balance beam, Worley has consistently kept composure which she proved with her 9.950 over the weekend. She has scored a 9.900 or higher nine times in 2024 on beam. In addition to her floor and beam All-SEC honors, the fifth-year senior also was the third overall best in the all-around with a 39.625. This year’s All-SEC nod is the fourth of her career.
All-Freshman SEC
The All-Freshman Team is comprised of the freshmen student-athlete with the top score (including ties) on each event in the first session of the SEC Championship and the freshman student-athlete with the top score (including ties) on each event in the second session of the Championship. The All-Freshman Team also includes the freshmen student-athletes with the top two all-around scores (including ties) in each session of the Championship.
Creslyn Brose
- Placed fifth overall on the floor exercise – 9.925
Creslyn Brose was the highest-scoring freshman on the floor exercise earning a 9.925 at her first conference championship competition. She has been an entertaining performer on the event all season, scoring a 9.900 or better on the event in 11 of 2024’s 12 meets for the Cats. She currently holds a big NQS of 9.960 on the apparatus. The All-Freshman SEC honor is the first of many to come for the dynamic freshman.
