Wildcats win 1-0 on Sunday to salvage game in SEC series

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – April 7, 2024

Karissa Hamilton hit a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the sixth inning on the first pitch of the frame and Stephanie Schoonover pitched a complete-game shutout as the Kentucky Softball team won 1-0 over Texas A&M to take the Sunday series finale over the Aggies at Davis Diamond.

Schoonover had one of the best outings of her career Sunday when it mattered the most, going seven innings with seven strikeouts, and only two hits allowed the entire game on 108 pitches. The Aggies only had one hit going into the bottom of the seventh, where TAMU got a walk and a single, but Schoonover buckled down and got back-to-back strikeouts to end the game and close the book on the game.

The No. 14 Aggies fall to 31-8 with Sunday’s loss and now sits 10-5 in the SEC through its first five conference series of the season.
