The Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Whitesburg to take on 14th Region rival Letcher Central on Tuesday Night. Hazard jumped out early in the first quarter and maintained their lead throughout the game for the 73-54 win. With the win, Hazard is now 12-3 on the season and 10-1 against 14th Region teams. The lone loss to an in Region team was on opening night at Knott Central. Since that time, the Bulldogs have only lost to 15th Region power Martin County on January 9th, and 13th Region power Harlan County in the Semi’s of the WYMT last Saturday, and has reeled off 10 straight in Region.
Hazard shot 53.8% (14/26) in the first half from the field and scorched the nets from long range, hitting six of eight threes for 75%. Letcher shot 10/23 from the field for 43.5% and two of six from behind the arc. At the half, Hazard led 34-26.
Hazard again shot over 50% in the second half going 16 of 31 for 51.6% and 52.6% on the game. Hazard ended the game 8 of 15 on 3-pointers for 53.3%, while Letcher was 3 of 12. Not only did Hazard make the three, they performed in the lane out-scoring Letcher 12-8 in the paint and out-rebounded the Cougars 34-26.
Kaden Adams was game-high with 18 and Wade Pelfrey led Hazard with 16.
