Wildcats play two against Aggies on Saturday and Sunday

LEXINGTON – 10-21-22

After a 10-day off period, the No. 16 Kentucky Volleyball team returns from its Southeastern Conference bye week to play a two-match series on the road at Texas A&M in College Station beginning Saturday at 3 p.m. ET followed by a Sunday 3 p.m. ET series finale.

Saturday’s match inside Reed Arena will be broadcast live on SEC Network+ and the ESPN app. Sunday’s matinee finale will be televised on ESPNU with the coverage window opening at 3 p.m. ET.

Kentucky is sitting alone in first place at 6-1 in SEC play through seven rounds of league matches. UK currently holds a one-match lead over Florida in the loss column, who is 7-2 in SEC action thus far after the Gators suffered a 3-0 loss to Georgia on Wednesday night.

Kentucky holds a 13-9 overall series lead with Texas A&M having won the past two matches and six of the past seven. Texas A&M is the last team to beat UK in an SEC match in Lexington dating back to the 2019 season. This is UK’s first visit to College Station since 2018. Nobody on UK’s current roster has played at Reed Arena.

The Wildcats are 11-5 overall and sit 16th in the latest American Volleyball Coaches’ Association top-25 rankings and are No. 12 in Monday’s release of the NCAA Volleyball Ratings Percentage Index (RPI).

Reagan Rutherford leads UK with 4.00 kills per set as one of the early frontrunners for SEC player of the Year. Bella Bell leads the Wildcats with 1.15 blocks per set, coupling with Eleanor Beavin’s 3.98 digs per set to propel one of the conference’s best defenses. Three-time SEC Setter of the Week Emma Grome is averaging 11.64 assists per set for the Kentucky offense.

Texas A&M is one game above .500, sitting at 10-9 on the season with a 2-6 conference record under the direction of Laura Kuhn, who is in her fifth year at the helm of the Aggies. Caroline Meuth leads TAMU with 3.95 kills per set.
