Owsley hit eight 3-Pointers in the win over Breathitt
BOONEVILLE – January 9, 2020 – BRADLEY CHARLES
The Owsley County Lady Owls played outstanding basketball in their 59-24 victory over the Breathitt County Lady Cats on Saturday. In particular, Coach Travis Smith’s team excelled at creating turnovers, making 3-pointers, and rebounding on offense. Throughout the game, Owsley County’s defense led to routine fast break points.
In the First Quarter: The Lady Owls made three 3-pointers and scored 24 points. Owsley County’s Lexy Lynch led all scorers with 10 points. For Breathitt County, Riley Bush, Adreonna Schutz, Maddie Haddix, and Naoma Noble all scored. With three quarters remaining, Owsley County led 24-9.
In the Second Quarter: Six players scored for the Lady Owls, including Addison Terry who made a 3-pointer and scored five points. For the Lady Cats, Schutz and Noble each scored. At halftime, the score was 42-14.
In the Third Quarter: Freshman guard Carly Smith made two 3’s and scored 10 of Owsley County’s 15 points. Noble, Schutz, and Emalee Watts all scored for Breathitt County. Going into the fourth quarter, the score was 57-21 in favor of the Lady Owls.
In the Fourth Quarter: Haddix and Schutz scored for the Lady Cats, while Smith scored for Owsley County. Only five points were scored in the quarter, and the final score was 59-24.
